Halloween, DIY Style

So Halloween is finally on a Saturday this year, which means that for the first time in six or seven years, I will not be working on Halloween night. Hoo-rah! Even though I might not go out, I still feel the need to put together a costume, just because I haven’t got to do one for so long. Unfortunately I have no money and very little time to do anything elaborate. Due to the nature of my everyday wardrobe, though, I do have some costume choices that actually wouldn’t necessitate buying a single thing; I could very easily do witch, vampire, flapper/cabaret, geisha, Fulci zombie, or medieval wench. These, however, are not very original, which is very disappointing for me. I admit to being picky and anal retentive about my Halloween costume choices: I prefer being something ugly, scary or monstrous, for example, rather than a fairy or something twee like that. I like something that involves elaborate makeup. I don’t like simply dressing up as another person or celebrity, and I don’t generally like costumes that are just visual puns. I realize this doesn’t leave me much to pick from, but I’m sure somewhere in my closet there must be the perfect answer, and in the next two weeks I WILL FIND IT. Maybe.
